Here's a quick rundown of how I ended up with a boat I could be proud of....
After being a single father to two girls for many years, I decided to look for a cheap hydrostream to have fun with. I bought a used V-king with a 79 merc 115. Had some fun with it but the engine became frustrating. I sold my house and decided to buy a brand new 2017 evinrude 115 HO.
I called for insurance but couldn't get any because the serial number on the hull was painted over. Insurance broker told me I had no choice but to get another boat. As a fluke (while I was waiting for delivery of the new motor) I saw a Canadian Edition Vision hull sitting in a dry land marina without a motor on it. Called the marina the next day and made a deal to trade my V-king and some cash for the boat and picked it up the next weekend. Dropped it off and had my new motor installed.
Used the boat for last August and September. What a beautiful boat. Lots of fun. Boat was owned by a single person prior to me getting it. It was way under powered having a 70 hp on it. Was also kept on a lift in a boathouse. Was in great shape.
This year I ripped out the floor, reinforced the hull, replaced the stringers and put it all back together. I just finished it and haven't even had a chance to float it yet. Will happen over the next few days. I also added a manual jack plate and ordered a bigger prop.
Can't wait for the first ride this year. Will let you know how it goes. I will also try to post the progress of the overhaul when I have a chance.
See you soon,
GJ
