My first boat!

Hello Hydrostream Enthusiasts!

I bought my first boat last year (2011) with my own money and with the advice of my Dad. I was 14 when I bought my boat and I was excited when I went to look at lots of different boats. I was very disappointed boat after boat when my Dad said I should wait and not waste my money. He said the right boat would come along for me and I just had to be patient. It seemed like he would never like any of the boats I found until finally I found this one! I bought a 1974 Vector Hydrostream with an Evinrude 140hp 4cyl 2 stroke. We had it out on very calm days on the Saint John river and wow! What a blast! I am so happy I waited and guess what? My Dad is totally a hydrostream finatic just like me.

Thank-you all for this forum and I am very happy to associate myself with Hydrostream!

My next post I will post some pics and tell you more of my story because I'm going to need your help.

Hi Varmint1!

Here's a few pics of my Vector from last summer. I will post some pic's from this year when my Dad and I started our attempt at a re-core soon.
We decided that a re-core was necessary as the floor seemed really soft but, hopefully we are not in over our heads!
I am hoping you and your fellow hydrostream members can help us with good advice.

Welcome to the forum.

I host my pictures on photobucket then past the img code.

If you have any questions on the core we will walk you through it. start a thread in the restoration section so we can understand where you are at and we can guide you through the complete process.

When I was 15, I upgraded from a 14' tinner with a 9.9 to an 18' bowrider with a 205 i/o, wish I had of had parents like yours lol... Welcome!
