Re: Another Hydrostream fanatic on board.
Oh yeah. Its a tank though. I think it did right around 55 on gps was the best I could get out of it with the 454 mercruiser. That was about 10 gallons of gas and no gear with just me in it. Havent ran it with a GPS handy with the 427 yet. Mom thinks it does 70 but she swore it did 70 with the old motor till I busted out the GPS. lol

Re: Another Hydrostream fanatic on board.
Thanks Hippie and 77Viper, Hippie - love the glastron. For skiing I don't mind the extra nose weight. On my first Vulture, I had a 12 up front and just a portable 6 in back. It kept the nose down for skiing, and if I wanted to run top end, I would empty the front tank and run on the 6 in back. I didn't have any setback on that Vulture though. Still think it would be nice to have, the way we go through gas barefooting.

Re: Another Hydrostream fanatic on board.
Hi Bill. That looks soooo familiar! Scap the air box. The core goes under it a ways and, from the looks of it you made a good decision to do the repair. Mine had a small lowered floor in the footwell area. No stringers beyond the main floor. The footwell floor is glassed to the hull and the bulkheads. The glass over the core there was also doubled over in that area for strength. The bulkheads also sit on top of the core and the glass was doubled under those too. The footwell floor is also a structural piece. Make sure to put a drain in the footwell floor. As far as floatation, all mine is in the gunwales. Usually if a boat sinks, the heavy end will go first. In that case the bow would trap air anyways and float. Make sure and mark where your bulkheads go! After grinding and prep, you wont see where they go. I moved the front one where the air box was and moved it forward a few inches. Needed more leg room. Also moved the front seats back a few too. Keep up the good work man! Don't worry, I'm watchin what your doin!

Re: Another Hydrostream fanatic on board.
Thanks Rick, exactly what I was hoping to hear. I wasn't sure what I was dealing with. An extra 1/4" stringer was added in the footwell and it made the floor too high there. It felt and looked differant then how I remembered VNo1 being. Thanks for the tips on the extra glassing.
What did you think of the transom supports on the Minx in the other thread? I wouldn't mind some strength that looked like that. If I have to do the transom I might add something similar. I Need a warm and early spring this year.

Re: 79 Vulture Recore
Bill, I know on mine to fit the fuel tank under the splash well, there was no room for knees. Look at the pics in my recore thread and see how tight it is. Didn't want to move the back seat forward either. Need the room. Those are some beefy lookin knees though. I doubt there solid though. I bet there hollow. On mine, it wouldn't be hard to add them.

Re: 79 Vulture Recore
Yeah - the tank that came with mine would probably not fit with knees like that. I am still undecided as to using the existing tank and skipping the knees or look for something that will fit with knees. That's why I am considering a second tank up front. I haven't had a chance to really look into tanks and fuell capacity yet, but hope there's a good solution out there. I probably won't make much progress over the next week. Heading up to the north woods near the UP for a long weekend. Up there I have a heated garage to work in, but it's too far away to get my work done on the boat on a regular basis. If we can get back to temps on the 30's and 40's soon, I can really knock the work out. The space heater is barely cutting it right now in the garage at home.
