I have seen a few people use Ipads in their boats for GPS, speedo and maps.
Anyone have any neat setups?

Re: Anyone use Tablets (ie ipads etc) for boating software
I have an old android phone that I use pretty much just as an MP3 player some games for the kid but I have used it for GPS speedo many times on the motorcycle and also for gps mapping. I would start the mapping app and then at the end I could see my route I traveled. lol
For now im sure that will be my option in the boat until I can afford a nice GPS speedo but I have seen it done. Not with a big iPad though.

I use my phone for gps and maps for fishing, it works real well for fishing at night too lol
Money was never a big motivation for me, except as a way to keep score. The real excitement is playing the game.

I use my phone now for MPH and use a suction cup mount off the windshield.
I'm debating getting a tablet to use for GPS/Mapping/MPH and mounting it into my dash where my broken depth gauge and speedo are. Even though I just ungraded to a Humminbird 598 GPS/Mapping/Sonar/DI/SI unit. Only a 5" screen and I got it mostly for the DI and SI capability. Can split the screen, but a 7-10" tablet would be cooler. Not sure where I'd mount the H-bird then since I had my old one mounted on the dash (pic below).
I've read great reviews about Navionics Lake Map app that only $10, or $15 if you do US/Canada. Basic GPS Tablet with that app and you got a pretty decent setup for under $200. And you can still use the tablet for so many other things. I'll probably end up doing it...
