Re: Vision setup
The black section says "Teleflex Marine Mfg USA" and the silver section shows made in Canada lol. The black piece also says GT, if that means anything. Couldn't open that link on my Crackberry, and my computer's down right now

Re: Vision setup
Why am I always the one that has to give the bad news?????
That steering is unsafe at high speed, it's not a "true" dual cable system. It's a single rack, with 2 cables running parallel. You're going to need to replace it, the slack can't be adjusted out. It's not your ability, you'll never be able to drive it with that.

Re: Vision setup
Good to know, I'd rather have the bad news than unknowingly cause harm.... I'll keep the speeds under 60 and look for a better system. Don't know how much more I can spend on her this year, but I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks!

Re: Vision setup
Offer this guy 100 bucks if your cables are similar length.

EDIT: Never mind, no cables are included

Re: Vision setup
Thanks for all the help. Now that I know what I'm looking for, I'll search locally first. 100 bucks plus the ride might end up costing more than what I can find here. (I can't imagine shipping being less than another 80-100 bucks). If not, I'll explore other options.
Thanks again!

Re: Vision setup
This spring I found a dual opposing rack and pinion, at a very reasonable price. Pretech is about the only manufacturer for this type of system now. You can get the whole setup brand new for about $250. To make it opposed, you just flip the racks. Next best thing to the obsolete (but very desired) Merc RideGuide. Here's the link http://www.firstchoicemarine.com/m-221-pretech-america.aspx?PageSize=20&pagenum=2

Re: Vision setup
Beauty, thanks! I'll check with my local marina, see if he can get it in. Am I going to have to run a cable on either side of the boat now then? Not a big deal, just don't have a hole on the passenger side..... Yet......

Re: Vision setup
Order that directly through the website. When I did, there was free shipping. That deal may still be good. Don't pay the marina markup! To run true dual opposing you will have to create another hole. If it's not center steer, add two feet for the left side. Dual opposed can be adjusted with less slop (almost none) than what you have. It used to be the standard, and many still prefer it because you can "feel" whats going on. To dress the new hole use a clamshell. http://www.jmsonline.net/clam-shell-vent-2x2-1-4.htm if this is not the size you need, they have larger ones. Hope this helps.idvette wrote:Beauty, thanks!
