Was doing some reading and came across an article about hull design, and something caught my attention. Article said that a vking would be faster than a viper with identical power, even though the viper is lighter. I figure people on here would know first hand. Also, is the vking gonna handle a lot better than the viper?
Im sure Chet will be able to shed some light on this soon.
Myself I am not sure as I have never owned a Viper but years and years ago when I was around 18 I did own a vking that I bought from my uncle for a short time and I knew nothing about performance boating back then and while I thought it was fast, im sure knowing what I know now, I could have got another 10-20 mph out of it easy. I had a warmed up 150 with a 20" mid bolted right to the transom and didnt know much about trim angles and all that so I ran with the motor buried 95% of the time. lol
Seeing that the hull is different I dont know if that would play a role or not. Maybe Ron (alaskastreamin) can shed some light as he has owned both a vking and a viper.
The Viking/VKing is a longer boat and will have more stability at high speeds. I can't say which is faster, but the Viking would be a better boat for passangers. It depends what you want the boat for. I have a Vulture because I wanted even more room and I am not that concerned with top end over 70 mph's. Bill
I would say the viper would be faster up to the point of safety. The vking is a bigger boat with a wider pad and has been proven to have a higher top speed with more power.
My viper is scary over 100 but I plan on running my vking in the 115 class so it had better behave.

Yeah, looks like somebody went for a ride there, hope everyone came out ok! I'm not gonna be racing, looking for mid to high 80s with two people. I have a viper, getting ready to start throwing all my money into the hull, just second guessing myself as to which hull I want to commit to. They are easy to find around here, any stream you want, yts, also found an xt but it's turn key an they are proud of it. There is a vking yt that is nice.
