Hi everyone, I got this boat from my father when he passed away, it's a 1989 Hydrostream Verado and I just love this boat. It's got a 1992 90hp Nissan NS90A outboard on it. I went to get insurance on it and they asked me what it's worth and I just got the deer in the headlights look-no clue at all. Anyone have any ideas on it? I can't even find another one on the internet to compare with it. Its in perfect shape and the interior is really good, no cracks or anything. Motor starts and runs great too.I love the boat and I can't figure out why I cdon't seem to be able to find any other ones.
I'm in Ontario..some things a diffrent, but many are the same.
I'll suggest 5k.. if they want a break down..1k for the motor, 3500 for the hull and 1500 for the trailer.
Because this was inherited..I'll suggest it is more memeory than value.
ie if you lost it all or part of it tomorrow.. lessoned learned, but it would not break you.
What you do want is liabitiy should you run into someone else.
Sometimes you have to buy the "package" to get the cover for what you really need to protect.

Just a fun ride all the way around.
I have heard of people insuring older boats like classic cars
where the value is what it would cost to bring back to original
so you would have to get that info from a few repair shops
also ask the insurance company if they'll do that

I'm not sure about insuring it. I had a trolling motor for sale on craigs list and a local insurance agent came by to buy it, as long as he was in the garage I asked him about insuring my viper. He literally started to laugh and asked if I was serious when I said yes he quickly said no way. I might need to look into this a little further.
