Current Options for New Build Hydrostreams

Greetings all...

I have just discovered the world of Hydrostreams today, to my delight! However, despite some deep dives on Google, and even around this forum, I still can't find anything about what the current (2021) options are or could be for developing a new build Hydrostream! I know there are some mysterious threads about John Spaeth in Canada, and that HP p assed away in 2019, but just wondering who owns the build rights and branding, and also where any viable molds might be? I am interested and also have some friends that would be interested in the potential for fresh sexy Hydrostreams. Any help is welcome! Cheers...

David

Chub Bryant has a few molds and but they are all the newer ones. As for the classic hulls, Howard was kind of put in a crap situation and ended up closing up shop and the last year the original Hydrostreams were produced was 1991. There are a few molds around but none of the originals are owned by the current Hydrostream owner (Chub Bryant of Stroker Boats), anfd Chub hasnt built a new hydrostream in years and the odds of him building anything any time soon is slim to none. Im sure he wants out of boat building anyhow as he is getting up there in age. Not that I know of anyways. The original Vasseret molds are very local to me and still have a hull and deck in them from the original factory (They are from 1991). Arron at Xtereme Paint in Wyoming MN has the Virage Stage 4 molds (And he will build you one if you want but it wont be cheap). A few guys have tried to bring new hulls to the table but when it comes time, no one ponys up the money cause its a lot cheaper to restore an older hull than to build a brand new one from the ground up.

But if you ask/look around you will find a few molds scattered around. Howard let em all go pretty much when he closed up shop.

Thanks for all the info! Any idea about the ownership of the brand? Just know some people who might be interested in waking it back up a bit more, beyond just building a boat or two!

:)

Yeah, Chub Bryant owns hydrostream. He had other builders building for him for a good while but after questionable workmanship, he moved everything back to his Stroker Boats shop and stopped farming out the building of hulls. He was going to step up the game, then nothing happened.

Gotcha. Understood. Maybe there's a chance to finally step up the game after all then... Thanks much. Watch this space. :)

The link to the Venom Performance Boats that Transomstand posted, Earl Henriott and his business partner are working on pretty much an updated Hydrostream Venom. I think they are getting ready to build the molds if they havent already. If your looking for a Hydrostream Venom but better and updated, Then I would absolutely check out Venom Performance Boats at the link above.

Chub also owns Stroker Boats and that is his baby and hydrostream has always taken a back seat to stroker ever since he acquired the brand many years ago. Thats why he was farming out the work to other builders cause he didnt have the time as he was busy with Stroker. I dont know. Its just an all around weird thing now. He has a Venom at the shop thats been sitting in the mold for years now.

There are a few moulds here in Canada that are useable, Spaeth has most of them, also a v-king mould in Ottawa. There is a little talk right now of the AE-21 possibly making a comeback, I believe it's also in the Ottawa area right now.

Getting in touch with John Spaeth is practically impossible. His shop number is disconnected. His son isn't on social media like Facebook. If you want a boat built, you pretty much need to show up in person at his shop with a hefty deposit and then wait 3 years for him to build it.

You're better off buying an old Stream and restoring it.
