Inner pad question + weird foam shapes

I'm in a full resto of a 86 v-king. Everything is going well, I'll spare you the details about the demo since you've seeing plenty off already.
floor is out, complete core is out, transom is out. Now, for the inner section of the pad, do I need to cut the top off and check the inner section of the 8 inches ?
I have pictures but the site won't let me post them

You got to have at least 3 post before you can post pics. If you are talking about the pad core yes remove and I would replace all the core.

WITHING THE SAME POST WILL COUNT ?!

)
I mean, I got the 'box' (old stringer over pad) out. I took the core out, grinded flush. but the is obviously an inner section (the pad) that is covered with glass right now. Most of the installations I say here, people put their new stringers over that top coat of glass all the way to the transom (knee braces) But I have never seeing a picture with that top coat off. What is the pad filled with ? green foam again ?

It will be re-cored and done properly (vacuum bagged etc) just want to get all the rot out. But I had never seen any pictures with that layer off. So maybe it was just they way it was made.
Also, what is the purpose of the part under the dash where we rest our feets ? Is is a support od some kind, a water barrier or just a foot rest ?

That is what they call the air box, it's for support. After you remove it and go back with everything you can just add bulkheads

THIS IS THE PART. Do I cut the top of that to check inside the pad ?
this is under the front dash.
under the floor, over the core I found these weird shaped foams. Probably old foamcore, but my concern is more, why and how did they get weird like that ?

You had a fiberglas box stringer correct? And yes that layer in the middle has to come up cause there is core underneath the glass

That foam looks like it was added later in life, possibly weak spots in the floor and previous owner tried to strengthen it by filling with the foam
