My new project arrived July 4th at 5:00 am!!! This is my biggest, coolest project to date! It's a 1984 Checkmate 2800SX outboard. The boat was originally rigged with tripples off the transom and then converted to twin on Gil Brackets.

Gelcoat will get wetsanded and high speed wheeled. Cabin will be gutted, seats recovered, new carpet and vinyl headliner. Dash will receive lazer etched dash panels and new gages. Boat will be rigged (for now) with twin Merc 2.4L 200's on 25" mids, Offshore single piston clamps, with Bob's lower units. The boat arrived July 4th at 5:00am. Already started working on her. Cabin is gutted, I got one of my 2.4's put together and mounted. Gave the boat one pass with a wheel and Maguires cleaner wax..

Got some work accomplishedlast week. With the help of some torches and alot of wrench turning I managed to separate my 25" mid section from a stock clamp and install it onto a single piston Offshore clamp with the high performance 1-piece stack adapter. Then I installed the tilt tube for the side steer and mounted the entire assembly onto the Gil Bracket. Next I hooked up all the external steering rams. I also intalled a new "old stock" deck hatch, polished my shifter/throttle box, removed the old batteries, cleaned the bilge, and cleaned/conditioned the only seat I left in the boat (drivers's seat of course)! Getting closer step by step. Still have to swap out the lower powerhead studs for longer studs to reach through the 1-piece adapters, mount the second powerhead, run new fuel lines, service the lower units with new water pumps & gear oil, and mount the trim pumps..I'll get some pics posted..
