Quarterhorse came over saturday and helped me glass the stringers, knees and floor in the hull. It took 8 hours, but that part is done. Ran out of resin again. I will get more coming so i can finish the well, seat mounts and control box mount. Then this boat can be flipped for paint.

Had some free time this weekend so I filled the holes in the dash. Cut some 3/4 ply to fit snug in each hole, painted them with resin and installed them. Then i sanded and filled the outside with resin and mat. Its finished with short strand filler to 80 grit at this point. Holes in the inner sides are next on my list.

Tonight I'm working on the ''hydrostream'' stress cracks that they are known for. You know, the cracks on the deck about mid boat. Well, i sanded and layered the inside to help reinforce and stop the cracks from forming again as i will be putting plenty of power on this hull. Then, i sanded through the gel and down to the fiberglass to layer the outside up. Sanded will continue tomorrow.

I got back to the ventura for a bit and did some more work. I added more glass and resin to the knees, built seat mounts, control mount and a throttle pedal mount. I then closed in the well and flipped the hull. I will do the finish work to the well and control mount when the boat gets flipped back over. Here are the progress photo's.

I've spent every evening this week repairing, straightening, sharpening and prepping the bottom of this ventura. My two sons came out tonight to help me finish prepping the hull. It is now ready for fresh gel. Tomorrow will be cleaning the garage so its ready to paint this thing. Saturday I will be spraying the bottom. So far so good. Here is what it looks like...

The bottom has been gel coated! It doesn't look that good, but the sanding and buffing will take car of that. Learned a lot today, mostly the hard way. First, the liner in my paint gun was sucking into the pickup tube and not letting gel through. We got rid of that crap. The tip on the gun is a 2.0 and i didn't think it was beg enough so we had to reduce the gel more. About 25 percent. Then the gel was setting up in the gun so we had to reduce the amount of hardener in the gel. By this point we had a good idea how to get it done. It was still difficult to lay out a good pattern due to the cheap gun, but we got it covered. 3 heavy coats with the last one having the surfacing wax. Here's a few pics.
