did a little more digging.. i know i make small improvements but i need to pick up a grinder and cutting wheel.. today i was vaccuuming and found that the floor and the hull were seperating in the left bow. and i was feeling a soft core standing in the boat so i pulled up a two foot or so section and found a mushy balsa core. glad i joined the forum or i never would have known about this stuff.

mushy is good, makes for a easy demolition. it really sucks when 1/2 the core is still decent, but it all as to come out anyway .

did a bit more work. cut out the floor up in the nose and a bunch of the float boxes. windshield is off. did some sanding. i was shocked when i saw how much foam they managed to pack in this little boat.

has anyone found a quick way to get the good balsa core off the hull? the rotton stuff either falls out easy or take very little force but there is a fair amount of good balsa that i cant even dig into with a screwdriver. how do you guys get that junk out?

We chiselled mine out with a screwdriver and a hammer like little wine bottle corks. I'm sure there are better ways though. I was just to new and afraid of poking holes in the bottom. It took us 6 months that way. Hopefully someone with come up with a better answer. Bill
