man i appreciate it. so far so good. i have a long road ahead of me and alot of work to do if i accomplish what i would like to on the boat. im using this site and documenting my progress to help me stay motivated and get inspired by some of the good boat builders on here. good advice always helps  and im open to take it all in. this is my first project and ill admit i was a lil hesitant at first but finally said SCREW IT!! lets go. i have always liked and wanted a stream since i used to ride in my dads viper, figured why not build one the way i want it and know what ive got in it when its done.

sounds like me and you are diving in at the same time. good luck w yours. i know this site will help both of us.

youre not too far from me do you ever go to the lakes ( rayburn and toledo)?

I do run the Red River, as for Rayburn or Toledo I haven't yet. I also have a Varmint which I'm waiting to get my block back from the machine shop and get it rebuilt and back on the Stream, the Rude just cant hang with the Mag 3. I'm excited about the lil' Vandal I've been after it for a couple of months and finally the boy needed some money and sold it to me.

after re-reading some of the vector recore threads on here (prolly the 100th time) it got me thinking, did i get all the core out? and sure enough, i didnt!

yesterday i climbed in the boat and started cutting some more. i decided to take the "float boxes" out. they were kinda warped and i wouldnt have been happy with them later down the road. im glad i did cause i found core underneath!! :o

the box was filled with foam which was a pain to remove. it doesnt come out in one peice. i had to hack it out lil by lil and my knees were killing me by the time i got done. but, i managed to get one box (passenger side) out and get all the stripped down to the hull. (looks alot better)

i found core which was still in good shape under layers of laminent all the way to about 6 inches from the side of the hull.

sorry kinda blurry but left side is cleaned up. NO CORE!!

i also worked a lil under the bow, man its a tight fit!

ive found a cutting disc works best for me in the demolition process. sawsall binds up where resin and layers are thick.

later this week ill get the drivers side cleaned up. pulling more foam out should be fun

tomorrow i plan on spending the day on the boat getting all the cutting and clean up done and getting it ready to start grinding. we have a cold front coming in next week hopefully i can knock some grinding out then.

ive also been working on a wish list :D so i have a plan later on when i start putting her back together. (collecting info on setup and rigging) looked into a teleflex hydralic steering system yesterday. $700.00 is about the best price i found on the net. any recommendations on suppliers and parts would be appreciated.

got the steering out, cleaned up the wheel gonna do some sanding on it and re-seal it
Image

i know before yall said original wheels used a square shaft. has this one already been modified? or am i looking at the wrong thing here? could i make an adapter to fit the new teleflex hydro steering helm?
Image

ive found this vector has core on the entire bottom up to 6 inches from the side of the hull.
ive got one more day of cutting to do, gotta finish the rt side float box and both corners in the stern. hope to knock that out this week.

The vectors, vipers has a wider core area than the vking, vulture.

That wheel has been modified and from here looks a little scary, what is holding it together?
