76 vector restore
Re: 76 vector restore
I am looking at honey cone cell , It looks to be strong after glassing. Core , floor and stringers multi use maybe. All i would need is resin and glass. I am confused about composites.
Re: 76 vector restore
I have never delt with composits.

Re: 76 vector restore
I am honored to have you visit hippie. feel free to give ideas throughout my project.
Here is the patch job. apears to have been done from outside. I will be fixing cracks and holes first.
I believe this is the patch job from the outside. looks to be strong. Maybe I should leave it alone but I know me i just cant do that.
Here is how I have the stream supported for now. I would like to have more info on hull configuration; where is the hook (wedge) start and how large is it supposed to be .? I think I will leave the hook in it for better planning for skiing. It is there to keep the nose down and at higher speeds the boat will be riding above the hook. The concave haven't decided yet to fill or not to fill, i don't think it has a value except to be different than others. At what point do the strakes turn up towards the bow ending the flat surface? When I begin restructuring I will add more underneath at other points to keep it true. I will start at the pad leveling towards outside keeping hull in mirror image. Well gotta go make some $$$$ , be back next week to do alot of grinding and trimming edges .

Get yourself a couple tyvek painters suits they are cheap and will help keep the fiberglass off you and out of your clothes and a good mask is a must.

Re: 76 vector restore
Theres a bunch of different points of veiw on the hook.. I think it will be faster with it. These things are all about gettin the hull out of the water as soon as possible. Thats how you get the speeds with relativly low hp. I know the hook causes more porpoising at lower speed which will suck if you pulling skiers or tubes, let alone just cruising. Theres a lot of info on the hysrostream registry. http://www.hydrostream.org/ The site don't work good with I/E so download mozilla firefox A different browser and a lot of good reading about hook or no hook and rigging. You'll be reading for hours. If you have any more ??? give me a holler. I just went through what your about to.

Well...it appears you have been boating for some time based on your reaction
Damn, so you just got done with the restore? You'll always have a great story though.
Seriously, I would recover the engine when you have a couple days to dry it out...leave it underwater till then. My Dad's Johnson 100 was underwater for three days (new owner, same lake.) Ran for at least ten more years...sold...probably still running. Lotsa wd40...plugs out, flywheel off to dry stator etc.
There is a '97 Johnson 150 for sale at a small marina in PA. Has been in the showroom for years...literally looks like new. 20" shaft and thirty day guarantee, $3995. I have known all the people working there for over 30 years.
Good Luck...I'll be checking my mount tomorrow...$1200 and counting to get mine running
Got water now, so no overheating, can also use it as a yard toy for the kids...water flying everywhere from the powerhead
Had to take the weekend off...previous owner mentioned gaskets. Ain't boatin' fun

Re: 76 vector restore
The motor is 7 hours one way trip away, too small HP for my plans.
Started triming edges , spent only 1 hour ,now gotta try to catch a rock fish while the tide is running. get more done later.

Re: 76 vector restore
Well, it looks like you've scratched the surface, lookin good! Treat the foam for the core just like bulsa, bond and laminate. What are you using for stringers? And any thought on the hook?
