Sure, motor could be too high, or over trimmed.

ill let u no thanks for the info .this boat was hacked up tryin to get the bugs out put new bilge in today redid gas tank and all fuel lines secured battery and cleaned up all the wireing .ill get it the way i want it eventually loltransomstand wrote:Sure, motor could be too high, or over trimmed.

About as easy as it gets. The main thing is to always replace the full assembly, impeller, cover, and the base.
Seen lots of motors with new water pumps that wouldn't make pressure worth a damn, until the base was changed.
If I had a motor that was new to me, I'd change it just as routine precaution, and I only use genuine Merc parts.

PUT WATER PUMP IN HAVE NOT RAN IT ON WATER YET IMPELLER WAS TRASHED ..WISH ME LUCK STILL WAITING FOR PRESSURE GAGE DO U NO ANYONE LOCAL THAT MIGHT HAVE ONE

If you work in the service center in Fairfield, shoot down to Marine Sport Center in Black Rock on Fairfield Ave. He can get one for you, and may even have something in stock.
Or you could buy one from the crooks at West Marine in Stratford.
If the impeller was cooked, that was almost certainly the problem.

ok took it out today temp never past 160 on gage no alarm motor ran very good thanks for the help and i think i finally put it on the pad boat seems fast need gps
