Yeah - can't wait to hit the lakes. I can edit too, I tried to do a quote and messed it up. See above Hippie Quote and couldn't edit it. It put it in as of this afternoons time. ???

You should be able to edit now. I the time limit set to 2 hours as I had a member a while back edit all there posts in an attemp to remove everything he said cause someone voiced a concern on something and took it all wrong and tried to delete everything and requested I delete his account. LoL

Now how about that boat... Hows it coming along?

Thanks Hippie, the VNo2 is at the garage and comes off the trailer tomorrow night. I hope to get the stringers cut out. I plan on using a saws all to go along them and cut the glass and then finish pulling the core under the stringers. Then it's sanding with 36 grit on a grinder. Hope to have the inside clean by the end of the weekend. It might be a little optimistic, but the weather is in the low 30's now and I can kick the heat on at the garage if need be. I am a little nervous about lifting the boat with an engine hoist on each end, because the front eye hook is loose already. Back some time I saw a thread on how to tighten it up, but I think it requires the deck to be cut in front. Do you remember which thread that was? I'd like to read up on it. It might have been Chet's. I will have to read and find it. Hope you start making progress on yours soon. I want to see some pictures. I'm on hold posting pictures right now because my download cable is mysteriously missing. Hopefully it will resurface soon or I will have to pop for another one. I'm starting to count the weekends until summer and wondering if I am going to get done in time. I refure to take shortcuts on it. Bill

Bill I actually fit up in the bow to get to my bow eye, I made a block on the inside to strengthen it.

Good luck and have fun working on it, this is the worst part of the core job. I will say I would rather sand the inside rather than deal with all my gel coat cracks.

Bill, it's tight up there. I had to replace mine because the studs were all rusty. West marine had an exact replacement. You have to cut one stud for clearance of the deck. Put sealer on it, stuck it in and the skinny dude got up there, slipped beefy stainless washers on it then put the nuts on. Had to tighten it with a box end wrench. Dont cut a hole in the deck! If you cut the air box out during your resto, that would be the best time to do it. Hard to believe it's only a little more than a month from now I started rippin on mine. Looks like you gotta good building to work in now so get to work! lol

Thanks Chet and Rick. I will get to fixing the bow eye, but tonights concern is lifting the boat by that eye with it already loose. I will be using two engine hoist to lift. Question is, with it loose am I risking pulling it all the way out and the boat falling? I know it depends on how loose it is, but is there a better way to lift the bow of the boat then using the bow eye with a strap through it? Bill

I'm not sure what the profile of your bow looks like but on some boats you can use a sling under the bow and use the bow eye to hold the rope from slipping off the front. Then again there isn't much pressure pulling it out when lifting it up. Just start in the rear and when it comes to the front you could probably lift it by hand.

Thanks Chet. I was thinking that straps from the back to the front on either side would insure it doesn't slip off the nose if the bow eye fails. If I get them tight enough, they will hold if from inching forward. As you say, just up enough to get the trailer out from under it and down onto the craddle. I expect to have a couple pretty beefy guys there tonight, so if that doesn't work, we will just muscle it out. I do expect to either tighten it or replace it as time permits. I really like the progress on your Viper. How many more hours do you think you have on it? Bill
