84 V-king set up
Re: 84 V-king set up
Viper, thanks again... If it is the voltage reg what else would be an indication the regulator is bad?
Re: 84 V-king set up
It also is part of the charging system but I have seen just the tach signal go bad, not common but I have seen it. If you have a volt tester there should be a small a/c current on the gray wire, I use a test light with a pos and a ground and it will make the bulb flash but you should see it on a volt meter as well.

Still no luck with tach. New tach and voltage reg installed. Again its an Evinrude V4 140. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 84 V-king set up
I am using a 24 Trophy Plus on my V-King with a stock 150 OMC, it is turning a bit high at 6,000 but hope to correct that soon with higher pitch Trophy (waiting to install a 27).
I have used the Trophy plus both submerged as surfaced and it does a great job across the board, even with hole shot.
Not sure if they make them though for the V-4 gearcase. If so, dont hesitate to try one out.

Re: 84 V-king set up
rev limiter on that motor should be 6200rpm. I ran a 1985 Johnson 120 on an 18ft action craft and had it raised as high as it would go with out a lwp. It spun a 14.5" x 24" raker at 6100. The boat ran in the low to mid 70's. I would raise it as high as you can go with the stock pick ups and run a 24 or 26, raker or chopper. Just my two pennies.

Does anyone know of any Hydrostream emblems or decals available?
