Whether you bag it or not, making sure the core material is bedded is just a case of being careful. Doesn't take an artist or a super 'glass man, just an eye for detail. Whatever you use, epoxy or polyester or vinylester, make sure the fiberglass cloth and mat are saturated. You can always grind off the excess.
Thats the kind of thing you can get skimped by a pro because he is trying to save time or materials.
Thanks oldskier. the more i read some of you guys posts, the more confident i feel about tackling this myself. Im gonna read all the info available on this site, try and educate myself about it before i begin this thing, and ill be asking you and some of the other guys questions from time to time im sure. I gotta get off the comp and get busy loading up and packing, on vacation and heading to weewahitchka to do some fishing and playing with the fam.

S P E E D wrote:There is alot of difference between companys who manufacture Fiberglass. At first I had bought 3M Resin and woven cloth, The cloth is great but I dont know if the resin had been sitting on the shelf at the supplier for a while but it was extremely thick.
i ran out of resin one day and wanted to get this part donw on the boat so i ran to auto store adn got some 3M resin. it was thick as hell like you said. i wasnt happy with it at all. the other resin im using from express composites goes on much smoother and easier.
almightygimp1, i was like you when i began my project. didnt no sh!t about boat building or glass work. with the help of these guys on here and a lil patience to take my time and do it right i feel condident ill have a well built boat at the end. and ill know exactly what was put in every inch.

I'm not sure why but the 3M resin is like molasses. It's really hard to work with and I like you didnt like the outcome.
