Prop choice for 1989 valero
Prop choice for 1989 valero
I have a 1989 valero with a Mercury 135HP Black Max engine. Having trouble finding a prop that will pull bigger skiers out of the water yet still give me decent top end when I am alone in the boat. Any suggestions??

Re: Prop choice for 1989 valero
I just put a Mach 3 23" on my Vision, can't believe how fast it comes up on plane now, that's with a 200 on a 16.5 foot boat...

I'm also a Valero owner and had the same dilemma when I got my boat.I needed a prop that would get my fat *** out of the water with a slalom ski.
After trying a couple 4-blade Trophies,I settled on a 25P High Five.I found it was the best at deep-water starts while allowing the engine to operate
within the recommended maximum RPM range at full throttle.I thought the top end was pretty good (mid to upper 60s) and I was happy with the
compromise.Mine is an EFI 200,so you would need a lower pitch, maybe a 22 or 23P.You didn't say but it's a big help to use the longest and widest skis
that your skiers are comfortable with.
