Re: looper vs crossflow
porting is'nt cheap though, the 93 up finger port, with 2.7 heads and coolant modd is a good idea, you can machine the stock heads also on the 93 and up. bought for the right price, good solid motors that will run a long time. I had an 89 225 limited edition evinrude with .700 deep chamber #331490 2.7 heads, plugged idle reliefs, no baffle in airbox, timing backed to 16 degrees for marina gas 145 lbs compression, with stock porting and it screamed.

you ought to look up wilbur weeks in florida, he's an old man now, but he built a really fast vector for his son, wayne, set a record with it, it think 110 mph or so. it was a worked 235. the looper is awesome but that is so much weight on the vector. if you are only looking for 100, you can go cheap with a 235 that is built. send the power head to al stoker, tell him what you want it to do, and 100 isw easily obtainable on a usable 235 that you can still cruise in. the biggest thing will be SET UP!!! THIS IS ALWAYS THE BIGGEST THING, BUT, YOU WILL HAVE THE POWER TO DO IT, THEN. while the motor is at stokers, flip the boat and blueprint everything. if going 100, you better check the core really well. tap all over the bottom, and "if in doubt, drill it out," if it is good inside, then clean out the hole with an allen wrench on a drill and fill it with g-flex.

A 225 pro max with an ecu upgrade on a Vector will easily get you to 100 with all the good stuff like sportmaster, injection etc etc with very little fuss. 3.0 omc's on a Vector are a weight distribution nightmare.

How about a 20" 235 offshore evenrude (Pretty much stock) with a LWP on a vulture with 10 inches of set back? 100+mph
Thats what I am working with.
