tx, mike
Ya know it wouldn't be hard to slap the 3.0 on the virage and see how you like it. The vipers were designed around the inlines so even the small v6's are more than they were designed for, now the virage is built for a v6 it might handle fine.

Chet you said that 150s are 2 liter and the 200s are 2.4 or 2.5 liters. My 150 is a 2.5 and my dads 150 is a 2.4 with the chrome sleeves and my old black max 175 was a 2.4 with chrome sleeves.

Put fiber reeds in it as a preventative measure, remove the exhaust liner if you want it a little louder. That will give you a little boost without hurting reliability. If you want more out of it than that it is more cost effective to just go with a 200.

A bridgeport has such a wide exhaust port it needs a bridge in the middle to keep the rings from catching. The porting is a lot different than a fishing motor 2.4.
hummmm I always thought that the XR4 150 was different from a regular 150.... :o

I was wrong about the displacement of the 150 motors. You can see the differences here http://www.advancedsleeve.com/mercurymarine.pdf

i havent been on line for a while, im an automotive a/c mechanic in florida so thing get really crazy this time of year. Chet ive been wanting to put the 3.0 on the virage for a while. my 3.0 has a 25 inch mid. the 150 has a 20. the 150 is mounted as low as possible on the jack plate. the jack plate as low as possible. the prop shaft is about 2 inches below the drain plug. i think i can adjust the extra 5 inches out plus more if need be. what do u think? if i had a 20 inch mid, it would allready be on. tx mike
