Hey fellas, Question.......I just scored a 79 Vking with a 150 merc black max. I was given 2 props with and the diameter of the outer hub on the prop is way smaller than the housing on the engine. Wondering if this is a good/bad thing??? Usually all other boats I've had they are the same size.
Also what should I torque the prop nut to in foot pounds?
Thanks in advance.
Wondering how to post images or maybe change your avatar or maybe something else?

Re: Prop hub sizing
For others in the future since this forum is damn near dead.
This is a Mercury brand performance blade that lets the exhaust drop out before the blades instead of after helps at top speed supposedly and the 3 tabs on the inside are for cutting fishing line.
That's all i know so far about it.

Re: Prop hub sizing
Yes, that is a surfacing prop, designed to be run partially out of the water. However the motor in the pic does not have a low water pickup. With a low water pickup, and your propshaft about 2 or 3 inches below the pad,(to start), and a long list of safety gear...you'll go fast.
Re: Prop hub sizing
haha yah I know. I have been on/off here since 2011.
I would like to find a lower unit with the low water pickup, since my skeg is really worn. Any advice?
*engine is a 83 Merc 150
Thanks guys.
