Yep. The core!! I also own I viper, that I'm replacing the core in as we speak. Lol not to bad a a project but defiantly a project. Viper are a fun boat wish u luck and many yrs of fun to come!

I had one of these years ago, we painted it Blood Red, I guy in a airplane flew over my and said it looked like a Red fingernail from the air :D

turns out the lower unit is worn on the invader..
is the paint on my hydro considered a "bruiser"

If it is shifting into reverse close to the neutral detent it is most likely a shift cable adjustment. Try moving the round tumbler backwards a couple turns at motor end.

Chet hit it on the nose as far as material cost. I had right at $1000 wrapped up in mine before I even finished grinding. I had an experienced guy lay in the new stuff though...so theres some labor investment as well. Nice looking bruiser viper. Theres a few of us around here that run this particular hull a little faster than we should. :mrgreen:

For what ever it cost to redo the core,floor and maybe transom is well worth it for a lifetime of fun for you and your family, very nice viper and welcome to the forums :up:
