After reviewing your pictures above you first need to add a hyd. jackplate and increase your setback to about 12". You'll need low water pickups and a nose cone. Make sure you have a good water pressure gage and temperature gage. Your new setup should yield speeds well into the mid to upper 80's..maybe even 90+.

There is a lot more speed in it but you need to buy some parts. A jack plate and water pressure gauge would be a good start, raise the motor and you will pick up rpm's and speed until you run out of water pressure. Then it's time for a low water pickup.

Like what ydo said jupiter has some info on his that will help out.

Great looking hull though

Check out "jupiter valero's" a-21 in the "props, setup, and rigging" section. Some good info and he might be able to help out.

picked up a 89 AE-21 with a 91 225 Yamaha,boat looks great and is solid,drove around ,great ride and feel,couple of questions?
top speed is 74 mph gps and 5500 rpm,is that right?

- what is max rpm on that engine?
-it has dual cable steering, was thinking on a Hydrolic system?
