I just started the same project. I got the boat for the windshield and frame. To repair my Vulture but decided to recore the hull.

Not the greatest picture but here you can see my Vector and the 3 lifting strakes on the bottom. Like Adam said, a VKing will only have 2 strakes. And the VKing has deck supports going to the floor (Unless someone cut them out, like they did in my Vulture) as where the Vector does not have them.

It's a Vector.

Vking has panels that go from the deck to the floor on both sides next to the front seats.

You should also see 3 lifting strakes on the hull. VKings only have 2.

Vectors pad is concave, like the bottom of a water ski. VKings are flat.

I'm going yo measure this boat. And take some pictures of the bottom maybe one of you guys can tell me if it's a vector or a vking.

This motor supposedly makes close to 300 hp. It has an expensive prop(I don't know alot about this stuff). I know that if you put 4 people in it it won't hardley go. Just churns water. There was never a floor (exposed stringers) and the fuel tank is directly behind the seats. 7.5 Gallon cell. Battery is in the nose. No windshield.. top speed in the pickle fork was 124 mph. I've went 119 in it when we first got it. I've never been over 80 in this boat. But it did 80 like nothing just was hard to control.

111 mph in a Vector seems to be a bit of an exaggeration. Maybe he meant he got the picklefork to that speed with the ModVP...?

The windshield has a negative effect of speed, yeah....but also has the positive effect of helping keep the bow down. And also keeps the wind out of your face.

Streams are stern-heavy, especially with 400+ pound V6s hanging off the back. Couple that with very little weight in the front, these boats can easily be blown over.
It's one of the reasons Howard Pipkorn modified the running pad in later models by adding what we call a "wedge".

I can't seem to source a windshield bracket but I've read the windshield may have negative effects on the boat at high speeds. Is there any truth to that?

I had no idea these boats has such a large fan base. My dad said he has had this thing @111 mph on GPS. I was always wary about driving a v bottom that fast. This boat has a 2.4 formula mod VP that was built for an old pickle fork we had. Boat got destroyed in a car accident and dad bought this hull. It has been outside uncovered for years. But I live in the desert so no rot except in the bottom center.
