Chet is right. I got ahead of myself a bit there. I blame it on the little to no sleep I got last night. LoL

Welcome to the forum.

You are thinking of 2 different things, chine walking is the side to side motion and purposing is the bow coming up and down.
Set up is key to each and adds safety.

75 is a respectable speed for sure but there is more there is you can keep it straight and steady. What it's doing is falling off the pad from one side to the other, you need steering input to keep it balanced. Go to the back of the boat and pull on the motor from one side to the other and see how much you can move it from side to side while someone holds the wheel. With solid mounts and good steering it won't move 1/4".

I would go with dual cable steering. This will take out any slop in the steering if it's adjusted tight.
Solid motor mounts will also help a lot.
A trim tam on the skeg isn't a bad idea to help the prop from crab walking and will remove some of the torque in the steering wheel.
The biggest help is seat time, you will get to know what the boat is going to do and it will become natural to compensate.

Trim tabs can help porousing in some situations but it's better to try and move weight around and work with trim angles to stop that.

that should about cover it
What Tim said. Im sure with some proper set up you can get rid of most if not all of the chine walk. If then you dont and you have tried just about everything then a set of trim tabs wouldnt hurt at all.

OldSkier on here has a viper that was undrivable for him at higher speeds no mater what he did with his set up and after some trim tabs he was able to really enjoy his boat. Yes they will get rid of alot of chine walk when getting on plane and stuff but once you are up on the pad they will be out of the water.

Some guys (TransomStand comes to mind  ) likes to call them training wheels but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I would recommend posting some pictures of and telling us about your set up and then go from there.

And welcome aboard.

I don't think trim tabs will be to good for a boat that is this much out of the water like hydrostreams.. i might be wrong though. one answer is if you wanna stop chimewalking is to maybe modify the bottom somehow. Also Welcome aboard

Hi this is my first post..just 2 questions..my boat is in great condition, but wanted to know in the NJ area, does anyone know someone that restores these boats?? Secondly, I saw a picture of a restored V King with a 2.5 on it, and saw trim tabs..does that help with chime walking?? Mine does at 72 mph, and I don't even have a lower unit pick up (have a mint 150 hp Merc)
