Welcome to the forum, and the itchyness of hydrostream ownership. Like Rick said make sure you check the core over real good, it can be ugly when they come apart.

Check it good. even if it's solid but wet, it needs to be replaced.. Usually if it's wet in one area, threre's other areas. Most of these boat end up having all the core replaced.

Great thanks! it's only about 2' long area on the driver side of the V, so it shouldn't be too bad. I have spent some time restoring checkmates so this shouldn't be any big deal for me.

If the core is wet and soft, it needs to be replaced. Yes, its bulsa. These boats are kinds prone to this. It's a big job but if your handy with this kind of stuff it'll make a good project.

I picked up my first stream over the weekend. I have been running checkmates up until now. But it needs a little work, mostly floor replacement. I cut out all the bad wood and theres a couple of soft spots against the hull. The hull doesn't flex but the fiberglass matting does. Are these hulls balsa cored? If not, what are they?

I also hit the deck with the buffer to see how it's going to shine up and I have to say it's going to come back nicely...

Here's a few photos. I'll keep posting as I go...
