I bought a whole boat once just for the motor. I paid less for the whole deal than I would have for a motor alone. I later sold the boat and trailer and got half my money back. lol Its on my pontoon now but I'm looking to upgrade a bit.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've done a little research and am now considering some type of composite foam board for the stringers and floor too. I have gotten the rest of the floor removed so now I'm thinking as to what type of jig or additional support to use before going any further. I did buy an engine for the boat over the holiday weekend. the original 150 Merc had a seized powerhead plus no lower unit. I now have a 96' Mercury 2.5 Liter 150 XR6. I actually bought an entire Laser 17"9" bass boat for the engine, manual jack plate, shifter, hot foot, and trailer. The bass boat has rotted stringers so it would need an entire rebuild too. The engine has good compression and runs strong. The trailer is in very good condition and has four bunks as where my original only has two. If my measurements are correct the vector should be a perfect fit. The engine is equipped with a Laser II 26 pitch prop. Hope to be swapping trailers soon.

Dinvincell h80 is commonly used for a composite alternative for core.

ImageYes, I like the Bruiser color scheme and was hoping to be able to clear coat it but after power washing, it appears too far gone. Will be painting the deck & hull. A re-gelcoat will be too cost-prohibitive. As of now, I'm leaning towards painting the entire boat Chevy Hugger Orange. Your right the floor & core appear to be extremely dry. I was able to remove most of the floor without power tools! Just used a hammer & pry bar to bring it up. Will be taking my mulit-tool to the rest soon. Once the floors completely removed ill have to put it on the back burner for a couple of weeks to get other things taken care of before winter's here. I'm building a jig and once the boats securely on it ill be removing the stringers and transom. Don't plan on removing the deck. I've heard too many horror stories connected to that. Will be cutting out the splashwell to access the transom. I plan on using West System epoxy. I've used the stuff before on my Glastron and loved it. Plan on Coosa for the transom, stringers, & probably the floor too. That leads me to my question, what composite material works best to replace the core? I'm open to suggestions. I've heard of so many it's become confusing! I did pick up an OEM Suzuki Samari back seat to replace my missing back seat. It's a near-perfect fit and has no wood to rot. Vinyls not perfect but what's it matter, it will be upholstered along with the buckets & side panels. I appreciate any suggestions you guys can give. Thanks!

Looks great so far! Bruiser gel scheme. You might be able to clear it but hard to say. Good looking foundation though. Also, that glass covering the core looks CRAZY DRY! I can tell just by looking at it, it will be rotten under there. Good thing, the more rotten it is, the easier it is to clean out.

Hello. I posted on the introductions about a week ago about my new Vector. I was wanting to post a few pics of the boat and I have a question I was hoping someone can help me with. I have started removing the floor but I don't want to go any further until I have more support under the hull. The trailer has only two bunks and it's defiantly not enough to support the hull and keep it in shape without stringers or core. Does anyone have plans for a jig for a viper? I'm sure one for a Viper or Viking would do the job. Thanks!
