Hydrostream Noob with ?'s

Post: # 14624Post Varigeo »

Hi everybody Im new to Hydrostreams but have been on or around boats since I was 5. I saw a Hydrostream I believe a Viking when I was a teenager and fell in love with the lines. Any way Ive been out of boating for about 5 years or so and Happened to come across a 78 Ventura II not too far from me, . Ive read up on the core rot ect and what to look for. Does anyone know this boat or anything about it?Its in Greencastle PA Any other tips before I go to look at it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance - John

Also he says it has a 6 gallon gas tank? This was a big? of mine. Did this model not have a tank in it as it seems awful small?

Welcome to the forum. As long as you know that if it hasn't had the core replaced it will need it and the amount of work involved you know the majority of Hydrosream specific info.

That is one good looking ventura

Thanks. I dont know that for a fact if the cores been replaced or not, claims to be the 3rd owner. I really would like to get a season or two out of it before dabbling into another major project. Time will tell though hopefully Im on my A game when checking it out.

The factory did not rig these boats when new, that was up to the dealers and customers wishes. A 6 gallon tank will go quick, you could add another tank or switch to a larger tank.

Ok that was a concern of mine. I was thinking maybe the tank rotted out and he threw in a carry on to keep the boat going. I really appreciate the input. Just trying to have my ducks in a row before I go blow money on something thats not worth it.

Blowing money on these old boats is what we are all about, the sting goes away as soon as you're o the water.
