2.5 mercury exhaust plate leak

started my motor up today cleaning it up after the river yesterday and seen exhaust coming out of my exhaust plate at the bottom and dripping a little water there wasnt much exhaust just when i reved it up it would dripp a drop of water and puff some smoke is this normal to blow thesee gaskets
