1st time on the water after the 2 year rebuild of the Vulture and threw a piston within 2 minutes. The shop wanted 2000 to rebuild. I asked if they had another motor I might be interested in. Yeah - someone just traded in a 92 Johnson GT200. He said it had one owner and it was babied. Said the guy was afraid to open it up. The guy traded it for a newer engine with less power.

So now I'm a proud owner of a Johnson 200 :D

It will be ready by next weekend. As time permits I wil post some pictures. Hippie, if your going to beat me and get yours on the water, you'd better hurry.

Bill

A carb change will turn that Jonny into a 225. You got a bulletproof motor!

From what I am seeing it may just be going from #62D to # 65D jets. If you really want the best carb, get 1998 225 carbs. They have an adjustable idle orifice rather than a fixed jet. It comes in real handy if you want to add Boyeson reeds. Instead of rejetting, you just richen up the idle by adjusting a screw. They are much better carbs than than the 92's you have now. If you make the change, be sure to get the throttle body also. That is where the adjustment screw for the idle is. I havew been around the block with these carbs. If you have more questions, just ask.

Just to throw this in, I have a '98 225hp with 74D high speed jets. This spins a 27 SRX DAH 6600rpm @ 85mph. I don't recommend this high rpm, and I am having DAH stiffen the prop to get the rpm's in the 6000 range. Here is a link with information on all year looper carbs.
