I know nothing about boats or the awesome HS VECTOR.....but I just bought a 1983 original paint without a motor....I collect and restore motorcycles but now need to learn about core issues with vectors.....I had to have this work of art... but must proceed with your knowledge...

Is anyone near the North West corner of Connecticut that can spend some time checking with me to determine if major structural work is required before I even think about a motor...I will be happy for some advice/help and can compensate you $$$$ as needed...

Welcome and just look thru some threads .Do you have floor rot ? has boat been stored outside? all important ? post some pics .Please

floor rot? just underneath carpet? havent checked yet....
this boat has been exposed to the elements without a cover for at least two years... before that it was well cared for, covered with original interior...

is anybody close to torrington, ct that would be able to assess situation with me...? thanks

He is correct. Hydrostream started pumping these out to keep up with demands of its customers back in the day and workmanship in some areas were less then spectacular and the core was the where the workmanship stunk! 95% chance (Especially if it sat exposed for 2 years) that the core is mush and needs to be replaced. The good news is, The more rotted the core is, the easier it is to replace as the old will come out super easy. That is if it is original, unlike mine. Someone replaced mine with non marine grade plywood and did a horrible job and it was soaked!!!! Im still trying to get it all out...

i am currently in the process of restoring a 84 vector. my vector was exposed to the elements for a while and the core was completely mush. i agree with hippie, the more rotten the better. and i would put $ on it that if its a factory core, it needs to be replaced. think positve though, if the factory finish is good thats one major thing less you have to worry about before getting her back on the water.

the guys on here are full of info and are super helpful. ask away and youll be lead in right direction.

And once you get it all fixed up and back on the water, you will have one of the fastest hulls out on the water. Doesn't take much for a vector to run some impressive numbers and you will look great doing it. The vector, vking, vulture always were my favorite looking hulls.

And we all love pictures so post some already.
