whats the coast guard rating

I have a ViKing. Cabelas will not mount a new engine unless they know the hP rating for the boay. This is a 1978 model and there is no rating on it. How can I find out how much HO I can put on it?

Find a good marina cabela sells acccessries and camo .
This even made my old lady laugh and she hates boat talk .By the way welcome you can learn alot about your boat here .Sorry for the rassberrys its been along winter

Ask your state licensing agency about what the coast guard regulations are on that age of boat. Here in MN anything older than 1984 the tag is looked at as a recommendation only and the law can't give you a ticket for overpowering. That might help if you plan on going over 175. The problem the dealer has to look at is liability in a accident with a boat they rigged.
