What kind of brackets does everyone use to supporttheir motor while traveling

I see a lot of variations of what you picture Russ. My take on them is they will be there if your trim ram fails but that rarely happens. They still have the weight on the transom when the motor bounces.

The style like Tim showed will actually transfer the load to the trailer, but if the boat isn't strapped tight the trailer load will go through the transom.

I myself don't use any, I figure if it doesn't break when I'm beating on it on the lake trailering it shouldn't be a problem.

Chet , if the motor is tight agaist the bracket then how will the motor bounce?

This is just my theory on this but there isn't anything holding the motor to the bracket so it's the same as not having a bracket. Ether way it's the trim ram holding it in place.

Im just looking for the help in deciding what to use, i figured it would be like putting a piece of wood in there

It's the trim ram that is holding pressure on what ever bracket you use not the weight of the motor.
The only way to take weight off the transom is one like Tim showed. The problem I have is if the motor is on the bracket and the boat moves it can put more pressure on the transom. I might not be explaining it correctly but it makes seance in my head.
At the end of the day I would say a bracket that attaches to the trailer and tight transom straps is the way to go.
