just left Circle D boats here in beaumont. talked to Chris Domino he had alot of helpful info. chet, he had a vector there modified alot like what u r doing w the v-king. he said it ran 103. .that boat had no stringers in it. the bottom glass was thickened and it had a floor at the floor register and filled with foam under. that he also showed me some modifications to do to the bottom to improve performance and help with the porpoising. hes gonna come over to the house when i get the boat flipped and show me what to do. he also said to leave the epoxy primer rough ( not sanded) on the pad, helps with air-rating the hull.

im prolly gonna get him to build me a 150hp when the time comes. i should be able to do all i want with that. (75-80mph) plus it will fit in my budget. he had several motors there including a 280! :boating: but thats a lil more motor than what im looking for. i had to tell myself "self, dont be stupid, put the 280 down and walk away"

found out he owned my old vulture at one point . his plan was to hang twin 225's on the back! but ended up selling it

there was alot of cool race history photos in the shop and he was a real cool dude to talk to. very informative and helpful.

oh and theres zero marine ply in the area! :(

chet, did u use okoume for your stringers and transom?

if i have to i will use birch for the stringers and transom, due to availibilty of 4x8 sheets. and use okoume for the floor, bulkheads and seat boxes.

i think if i seal them properly i shouldnt have a problem.

Finally finished grinding! I've got it super clean from nose to tail. There's a few spots where I went through ill have to patch but nothing serious. Grinding wasn't bad at first but toward the end it got old! Especially up in the nose. I did a lot more drinking than grinding during my grinding sessions in the end.
Next step is ordering my wood and core so I can precut everything. I brought home some cardboard to make all my templates with.
I also ran the sander over the deck on one side to investigate the stress cracks and how deep they were. Most of the cracks came out when I got the gel coat off.
