Float boxes are out and core is completly out on right side. Down fall my chisel went through the side in one spot and the bottom of the hull in one spot. Is this catastrophic or an easy fix when I lay the new core. Help please!!!! Yea I hope the motor goes well. Also my friend has a good 1750 long block and fuel enrichning carb set for me. Told me it would be a bullet proof block to build and he would help me do it right.

Try to not do it but it's not the end of the world. You'll just have to grind where you went through and build it up with glass.

Thanks quarterhorse. How big do I have to grind it out. Or do I just grind a grove on the crack and fill it with resin

It really all depends but you want to get all of the "broken" out or at least "V" the crack to add glass and then grind/sand it smooth. I did it in the pad of my Vector by accident when digging core out of it.

If you don't have a few holes in it, you are working too slow! It's a trade off. I always end up with a few bad spots. It is easy to build back up. Just add a few extra layers of glass and resin and sand until smooth inside and out. No harm IMO. Bill

Heck, we discovered a huge crack in mine. Guessing thats where it was about to start coming apart had I put it in the water as it was.
If you start on this page and then on the next page you can see my wonderful holes my boat that we fixed up from the inside. It will get more attention on the outside as well when it gets to that point.

Alright we'll I haven't really worked on it since my last post but its been hot and humid and after working in a hit body shop all day it's hard to go in the garage. But one side is totally stripped to just under the dash and the other side float box is out just have to finish the strip of core that was under the float box. New question, is it worth going all the way to the nose or no. Second can I lay the new core in one sheet or do I have to do two and overlap them like the factory. And finally is it bad luck to change the name or can I choose a better one. Witchammer is a heavy heavy metal band and idk not a huge fan of it? Any suggestions. Thanks

Well I bit the bullet and payed to have it done. My bosses friend owns a marina and his glass guy was down on his luck and had a slow last season and this winter. He was mobile did it in my garage for a hell of a price. New core floor and a transom and gussets from core to transom for strength. Also I found some jet boat seats on eBay I drove to Ohio for that are really nice and in the color scheme I will be running. Well worth $250.00 and gas money on a day off. Now I just have to put float boxes back in. Any suggestion on how to redo them?
