Hippie, I had spots in my bow like that also and I thought they were just thin, but they were all the way through and letting water into the balsa sandwich. Every time it would be in the water was causing damage and adding lots of water weight. I strengthened that with several layers of 50 before I even started the balsa layer and stuff. I will also re-glass from the outside when I get to that part. Good to see you making progress. Keep it up. Slow and steady gets it done too. Bill

Well, I had the chance to try out that grinding disk Chet has and be careful with it cause its like running a hot knife through a warm stick of butter. I love it and will be picking one up next week. If you actually seen the mess my boat is I would say I hot blot done today. I will have some pictures later.

I'm not giving up on it. Just lifes bumps along the way has kept me from being where it should but I am getting it done slowly but surly.

Well, I managed to get in about 3 hours of grinding yesterday at Chets place and used his steel grinding disk and what I got done would have taken me 8 hours with the paper disks.

It might not look like much but if you actually seen what I am working with you would understand.

Here is what I am having to grind away. The pictures don't really show how bad it really is.

I did a tiny bit up front but spent 99% of my time in the back.

And this is what happens when you get carried away with that grinding disk. That thing will melt right through your hull if your not careful. Notice the 2 holes.

I will be going and picking up one of them disks later this week and hopefully get more grinding done. That thing is worth every penny.

I'm getting there. I wish I knew about that grinding disk long ago. I would have been a lot further if not about ready to start putting it back together.
