easy test
un-screw it and tie strap it out of the way

( besure to silicone the holes good )

I dont think the speedo tube is a problem. Mine is in the same area. I think the small hub prop is the problem. If you look from behind the boat and see how many inches the prop shaft is below the pad. If your to deep, a chopper wont do any good. Those are best if your running the shaft an inch below ot higher. See how far below the pad and let us know!

Chopper would work, it would also add speed, enough to hurt yourself with that setup. Maybe just add a Laser for now.

What would you change if you had to work with that motor for now. I will upload some my pics of my setup tomorrow when i can get some light.

yes it will be hard to drive with the motor that low
sounds like you've never driven a stream on the pad before
i mentioned the chopper because you're gonna need one,
eventually, if you want to go over 55 mph with any motor
you're pretty well done with that set up because of the length of the shaft
i would put the money towards a new motor or a shorter shaft for that power head

Get a 20" mid and get rid of most all your problems then with some fine tuning you should get rid of all of them. :)
