I don't know the technical name for the wings on the motor but will it help in any way? :mrgreen:

I'm assuming you are talking about on the cavitation plate. Yes they will help plane out faster and keep it on plane at a slower speed. The downside is they can "dig" into the water in corners but with a 20' boat I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks Chet, If I get dig will raising the engine on the Jackplate help? My old Vulture just had the motor on the back of the boat and I could not adjust anything. This will be different having a way to dial it in better. Looking forward to some seat time. Bill

I am using a Bob's Stabilizer Plate, and it works great. Better hole shot, way less porpoising at those lower speeds where it occurs. No effect on top end, and I have noticed no digging in while turning. Here's a link.http://www.bobsmachine.com/Products/transom_stabilizer.cfm
