and Hippie, i know you are right but i am just nervous.
the lady knows what she is doing but she must have never delt with hydrostreams before. I understand that the core inbetween the stringers is going to be replaced with whatever she is gonna use... but my dad built lots of hydrostreams in his time and he says that to the left and right of the stringers up the sides he never put any type of wood, board, nothing he just layed that up thick with matt.. is that a bad idea? she doesnt deal with balsa wood and i have no idea where to get that in florida and i bet it aint cheap.. but i really don't wanna use any type of wood at all again... im real confused

All in all. New stringers new core inbetween the stringers both pvc board. And the core up the sides of the boat just thick matt no wood or foam just
Glass. Dont call me stupid because i still want ur ideas lol you all are better then me with this but i dont wanna put wood back in it and my dad did it before and just used glass on the sides and no problems for years either that or i use foam
For the side core.. Hippy why no foam?

I have to agree with the other guys, go with the balsa throughout the boat, like Hippie said if its sealed up right it's not going to get wet and rot plus it'll be cheaper that laying up the extra glass to get the equal strength of the balsa

Nothing wrong with using a composite core, it's just the way it was reading that you were going to use flotation foam.

It was nice talking to you, it sure sounds like you are on the right track, I was just getting worried by the way I read what you were doing. Best of luck and keep us posted

i understand but don't get me wrong this is just a starter hydrostream for me, just because i'm 15 and learning right now i just want this boat done and to enjoy it no matter how it is done. i know it is gonna be done good my only part is $$ wise a little scared but $500 is well worth it and i guess i am gonna go with the foam core it should do the job for now
