boating: Up date on my Venus project: I have all the floor out and half of the soggy wet core removed. The transom will be taken out and replaced after I get the core and floor replaced. Still looking forward to hearing more input on the pad extension removal topic

Sounds like your making some good progress.

I think you might be in unchartered water with your bottom modifications. My best suggestion would be to try what ever is easiest to change back if it doesn't work first.

I would have to agree. Im sure pipkorn tried other pad designs or modifications to it and that worked best for its design but I could be wrong. I just hate to see you cut it off or something and have an ill handling boat.

Odd bottom on those boats, I think I'd add another set of strakes between the pad and outside and cut the extended pad off and add a pair of tubes like Chet said. I put one in my vixen. Hustlers have no low end torque and it was a bitch to get on plane. The diference in that boat even with it's little notch was amazing.

I could use a little input on these "TUBES" that chet and hst4me have been speaking of. Also looking for a good source for balsa core material, my source is no longer available

They know all about us already but never hurts to tell em where ya heard about em from when your a new customer.

I will be talking to LeAnn again tomorrow for more sand paper, by the way I found you get what you pay for in that and they sell sea bee and it's great.

As far as what I'm thinking is if you take a piece if say 1/2" pvc on each side of the pad in the center of the concave section and then run it straight up through the splashwell. If it's flush with the bottom it would's scrub any speed. My theory would be if air could flow down the tube as it's getting on the pad there would be no suction, but I will admit I have absolutely experience with this hull other than looking at hippies hull and your pictures. If it works you might want to put a check valve in it so air could go down but water wouldn't go up. If it doesn't work you only need to fill in 2 1/2" holes.

To be honest, I kinda like this idea and it has me thinking now.
