Hydrostream VISA
I just joined this forum and not sure how active it is. I used to own a 1979 Hydrostream Vector with 200 Evinrude, good for 79 mph. Currently own a custom painted 19 Ft Cougar MTR with 300 XS good for 109 mph on GPS with recall. I have seen some old forum discussions regarding the one off prototype Hydrostream VISA. If you are interested in the real deal news/update: the boat is indeed alive and well in Canada as of 24 Jul 2023. The boat owner Dave resides nearby me in Chalk River Ont. I saw the boat yesterday on the water. Dave says that it currently does 88 mph and when he left the beach running on the Ottawa River I can attest to him looking indeed as if the boat was running in the eighties. Interior looks good, now with twin Merc Racing 2.5 litre (260hp) (the 4 stroke 300 Suzukis are long gone) and props are 14.5x26 inch. I will try uploading some photos.

Re: Hydrostream VISA
Although I sure enjoyed piloting the Vector, the Cougar is a great deal of fun as well. Attached is a photo of it. Thanks for listening. Hopefully someone out there appreciates that this very special prototype Hydrostream was indeed saved and is still being loved and enjoyed on the Ottawa River Ontario, Canada.

Re: Hydrostream VISA
Whaaaaaaat!?!? So you're telling me someone bought that thing and dumped the money into it too make it into a legit finished and functional boat!? I would absolutely love more info on it if you can. The last I seen it was years ago for sale up there in Canada and it was a total mess. That is amazing! That guy has the one and only Hydrostream Visa ever built!
And that cougar looks amazing too!

Re: Hydrostream VISA
That's amazing, would love to see it some time. That's about 3 hours north east of me, a lot more boat runs down this way than up there though!

Re: Hydrostream VISA
Good to see it's not out in a field someplace with a tree growing out of it
Love to hear about it's restoration
And only 300 miles from Northville, N.Y. where we have a little boating event

Re: Hydrostream VISA
Owner has posted on a Facebook post I put up, he has posted a few pictures and a little history. Apparently he's had it for 8 years, it underwent a full rebuild (knowing it was a prototype, it was rebuilt to be a proper boat by the sounds of it) while totally flying under the radar up here! It was for sale about an hour from me back in 2016 and I heard it was headed west, but apparently it stayed in Ontario. Hope he has some time and desire to show it off, would love to check it out!

Re: Hydrostream VISA
Thought that some folks might be interested in this. His brother Dan is quite the handy man with antique boats, motors and sleds. Dave talked about having it with the two 4 stroke Suzukis so he has had it for awhile. Boat now looks well looked after. He did say that he was going to try some different props for some higher speed. These pics were taken at the "Fort", Hotel Pontiac, across from Petawawa on the Ottawa R. It's a happening place if you are ever up this way. I suspect that Dave usually puts the Visa in at the Deep River Marina as it is usually stored at his brother's place in behind Chalk River. I usually run the Cougar on the Barron/Petawawa River, more scenic, less boat traffic.
