79 Vulture
Did a bit of trading with a friend. Traded a 16' Lowe Jon Boat (had $200 invested in it) for a 79 Vulture. The core, floor, and stringers where redone a few years ago with coosa. I got the boat complete with all the rigging minus the engine. Has some damage on the starboard side that need to be fixed then I'll paint it.
I have a few possible power plants to choose from. Old 2.4 175 (has a bad cylinder), 97 175efi, or a early 2000s CDM 200 2.5 fishing motor. Don't really know which will be the best starting platform. I am Mercury certified tech, but I've never had to play with the performance side of things so I'm a bit lost on which platform to start with so any advice would be great.

Re: 79 Vulture
Thanks. I've started collecting some parts for this build. Going with a 3 liter carb 225 motor. Picked up an offshore single ram clamp, got a good power head, and a gear case that will need the shaft swapped to 20".

Need to get some solid mounts, a trim pump, and a 3 liter midsection. I'm thinking for the mid I'll get an opti and convert it over.

Re: 79 Vulture
Small update, working on fixing a bent windshield frame, made a little progress today but have some more to go. I hope to get it "close enough" for now and find a good frame. The plus side is the boat came with a brand new windshield. Feeling even better with my $200 investment after seeing what a new one cost

Came with the boat. I was over my buddies today and said "let me grab that windshield frame and try and fix it" and he said "you want to take the new windshield with you too?" LolHippie459MN wrote: ↑May 15, 2017 6:27 pm Where did you get that? Used one? I could sure use that. LoL

I had no idea he had it. He said he bought it new after the old one broke.
Nah you don't need one... As a matter of fact you don't need that windshield frame either, I'll take it off you had for you. Lol

Re: 79 Vulture
I need a short section of factory rub rail. 2-4' can be in a couple pieces and doesn't have to be pretty.

Re: 79 Vulture
I'll be separating the deck and hull on my Viper in a few weeks. Not saving the rubrail as its pretty beat up in sections. I'll see what I can save from it for you.
