What kind of boat is this?

Post: # 7027Post Hippie459MN »

Well, I have no idea and cant remember what kind of boat this was but my grandfather owned if for many many years and when I was about 12 or so I never seen the boat again so I guess he sold it but I never asked about it. I do remember the big fins with the lights (Tail lights?) in them and the big huge steering wheel and it was loud and if I had to put a number on the speed, Gonna say upper 30's to low 40's but I could be way off. I am just trying to find out what kind of boat it is and maybe dig up some pictures and some info. This was a family boat for my mom and my uncles when they were growing up also so it had been around a really long time.

Oh yeah, The green boat was my dads late 60's Hustler Wildcat factory center steer comp with a 8500 merc that would push it into the 50's. Im sure with a proper setup it would have gone a lot faster.

I cant make out the logo on the side of the boat either. This picture was from the early to mid 80's im guessing. My dad owned that green boat from the early 70's until he sold it to my cousin in 1989 I think it was then in the early 90's they put a 150 merc on it and 2 months later sold it to there neighbor and he had it for 9 hours and hit a hug log and sunk the boat and its still on the bottom of the lake to this day. :(

Had a really weird turn of events today regarding this Larson boat in the picture. So I called my mom and told her about the brochure and were talking about all the fun time the entire family (myself included) had in that boat for 20ish years when all of a sudden she says to me, Oh yeah, You will never guess what, that very boat (Yes the one in the picture) is sitting in a field 2 miles from my house and turns out that the guy that bought from my grandpa was a good high school and long time friend of my now late uncles and he happens to own a tree farm and on one of his small lots is just down the street from my moms and the boat has been sitting out there for like 10 years and I think that motor in the picture is still on it. I am going to inquire more about it when I get home from work but I am going to see if I can rescue this family boat that my grandpa bought way back when my mother was a child. My grandfather sold it when I was about 12 or so to the current owner so it has had 3 owners in its whole life. About a month ago my mom went to this guys place to look at some trees for when spring time rolls around at one of her other properties and said, That look like my dads old boat and he politely said, Why yes it is your dads old boat and my mother belted out a "WELL HOLY S@@T!" I will keep everyone posted on this. Kind of excited and so is my mom as she really would like to save it too if it can be saved.
