Plan B, Anyone familiar w/ Seebold Powerboats?

Ok, based on the overwhelming response to a recore for sale It appears that I will saving my $ for a recore but I need my own boat in the meantime. Briefly considered switching to camping, then it would have to be by water, then I would see boats, then I would have to have a boat...boat and camper are even more work.
Sooo, found a 92 Seebold 21' Sport Eagle. Owner is willing to separate engine (200+ Merc) and hydraulic jack.
I plan to move engine and jack from Valero to this boat for the summer. I am just a LITTLE concerned about a company that was in business for five years...they made some really nice boats though. Please tell me no balsa

I can't tell you if it's got a core but from what I have read they are well made boats.

Thanks, it does have fiberglass deck under carpet. Still researching...overall it looks like a good deal.
Just don't want a recore while saving for my recore :0)

Don't know what type of core was used in the seebold but would imagine balsa was used. They are nice looking boats with a fast and fairly stable hull in moderate chop. The 21 ft eagle with a stock 350 c.i. merc would put you in low 70's proped right. After market exhaust and mild cam put it mid 80's. I only rode in it one time and was impressed with the plane time and it hit 85 quickly.

Seebold himself had a good reputation in the race circut years ago , not sure what is going on with him these days.

Thanks for the info. I really like the look of of the boat...not the generic Baja etc that is so common now. I hadn't heard of Seebold before seeing this one. Actually, it is a Sport Eagle that has a 225 Merc. outboard...looks like most Seebold's were i/o's though and big? Well, I will be taking a ride next weekend before purchase. Get Valero fixed and swap '99 225 Merc for '87 175 and hydraulic for manual jack...set to go Wife ain't quite buying my "master plan"

Bill Seebold Sr. passed away on 2/1/2007. I can't find any reference to Seebold boats though. I did find reference to Seebold props and a lot of racing history...they were (are) quite the dynasty. Sons still racing and a reference was found here.
