Minnesota get together

Lets set a date for a get together. I would like to run on the river but don't know it well so it would be nice to have someone that knows it fairly well "FrogII". I think Hastings sounds like a good starting point then go south and see where we end up. There seams to be quite a few guys on here from MN, it would be a blast to get to meet everyone.

Just throwing this out there so any input would be appreciated.

Stay between the RED & GREEN buoys  slow down for cruiser wakes :-o
St.croix has better sights :naughty: but running a stream up there on a weekend is a death wish

what kind of stops would everyone like , there are some nice bar/food joints from prescott all the way to lake city
one lock (3) to go thru at treasure island just north of redwing , or trailer to redwing

I know the marina operator at Hastings Marine there is a launch fee but at least the parking would be safe

Prescott - gas,beverages
Diamond Bluff - beverages, food (tacos on sundays I believe)
Red Wing - three marinas w/gas,harbor bar , ( Trenton island,Mr.sippi on a back channel
once you hit lake pepin - Lake City,Stocholm,Pepin

there are lots of places just to stop and hang on a beach all the way down

if everyone throws out some dates then we can narrow it down
any preference on spring, summer or fall

Im thinking mid to late summer maybe so I have a chance to get my boat done enough to be water ready.

As long as its not the weekend before or after Aug 11th as that is Little Guys first Birthday and not sure if we are having his party weekend before or after yet but I promised to have a boat done by then. I hope I didnt shoot myself in the foot on that one. :?

Mid to late summer would be perfect for me. Are you feeling better? Get ripping on the boat. I'm ordering my materials today. Their talking mid sixties next Thursday. I hope they hold those temps. I gotta get out of that garage. All my VNo2 money is going to renting it. Bill

Thanks guys, that's what I was looking for.

How about a spring date and a later date? That way if one doesn't work out for everyone there will be another day.

Guys if you are talking about actually running your boats below lake pepin is deffinately best. The further you are from the cities the less BIG boat traffic there is especially on a weekend Hastings, Stillwater, Prescott, all these are death wish places for our kind of boating. Just below Alma there is a great run all the way to Minneska about 20 miles of nice calm water pluss a big sandy lagoon to swim and party in. There is food and drinks at several bars in Buffalo City. A free boat launch on the Wisconsin side just off county A. It truely is one of my favorite runs on the river. Now if you want to lock through at Bass camp ( lock and dam # 5 ) This will take you down past Fountain City it has another sand lagoon but not as big and this run isn't quite as long either but it is still good. Then lock through again at lock and dam 5A and you will be in the Winona to Trempealeau pool. It is nice too but not many beaches along the side and a big long no wake zone through Winona. You guys pick a date and I will really try to make it you will soon see why my 'stream and I love this place!!!! Dano
