How a race is ran:
* Boats are set up into the five classes shown above. Anything over 2mph over your class is an
automatic disqualification.
* All types of watercraft are encouraged to participate. Therefore special classes may be added
to the race if needed in an effort not to eliminate anyone (i.e. jet skis, family runabouts).
* Boats are paired up randomly for each class in double elimination heats.
* Race pairs are lined up at a starting line (course set up with anchored buoys).
* Race heats are official after starting flag is raised by starter.
* During a race heat, boats must not cross the finish line on the "wrong" side of the center line buoy.
Boat "A" must not enter boat "B's" lane, or visa versa or go outside any marked lanes doing so
will result in a loss for that heat.
* The "Black Flag" will be used to clearly identify any racer that does not comply with the rules and regulations
set forth by the UMPBA. You will get one warning, the next infraction and your done racing.
* Finish line video equipment can be used to help the finish line judge determine the winner of each race heat.
* All decisions made by the starting/finish line judge are final.
* The Awards ceremony will be after the race course has been picked up and brought in, we would like as
much participation as possible as the winner's deserve the recognition.

Re: Hanska MN boat drags
Wish I'd could have been there, but it was a little far for me.
Did you run well, Chet?

Re: Hanska MN boat drags
It was nice to see ya Kevin, I wish I had more time to talk to you and your family. Lee is sure getting big, I hope he had a good time.
My boat ran like crap. I was way fat and ran on last weeks spark plugs. When I purge the methanol out of the system I have to run gas through the system at about 5000 rpm and it just coats everything with the extra fuel. In the nitrous class I didn't do too well because of low bottle pressure. I think I have a system worked out to keep the temps up between a AC bottle heater to start, then switch to my DC one to maintain the temp.
All in all it was a fun weekend of camping, racing, and a whole lot of beach racing. We actually have just as much fun hanging out in the campground talking boats all weekend as we do actually racing.

Re: Hanska MN boat drags
I wish we could have stayed longer too but between my little cousin and Lee I think they were wiped out for the day so we decided to get them home before it go to late. Was about a 3 hour drive back. I had a really good time and cant wait till Faimont for sure and I hope (Gets on knees and prays lol) I have a boat by then.77viper wrote:It was nice to see ya Kevin, I wish I had more time to talk to you and your family. I will post a few more pics I did manage to grab here and over at umpba.org after a bit. I some how managed to forget the video camera and the good camera in my suburban at my moms house so was just working with my pos point and shoot so they are nothing to fancy.
