Maiden Voyage Viper

Last Saturday marked the maiden voyage of my '79 Viper. I bought the boat a few years ago and have been (slowly) restoring it. I removed the core and replaced the stringers. Instead of a recore, I used heavy-weight mat/weave cloth for reinforcement. I used 5/8 play (light cloth on both sides) for the floor bonded with 3M 5200 and SS screws. The transom seems solid, so I didn't touch it. The finish is white gel sprayed with Duratec. The gauges are going in this weekend and the seats are on the way. The motor is a '76 Mercury 850 on a manual JP.It has an old 2 blade 21P prop and hit 45mph first time out. Not bad considering. I'm going to raise the motor up a bit and try again after everything else is finished. I would like to get a few more mph out of the current set-up before I move up in the world to a chopper and LWP.
