Canadian built HydroStreams

When did production start in Canada? I am looking at two Voyagers, one is a 1986 the other is a 1990. I know the 1990 was built in Ontario. Not sure about the 1986. Any difference in quality between the US and Canada built boats? Any less issues with the cores from the north?

Jim Tucker started making them in 83/84 in Hastings, Ontario, and made the Canadian Editions for about 10 years. Build quality was probably similar...due to high demand, the boats were being built and shipped as fast as possible. I've heard that CE's will need their cores replaced just the same as a typical Pipkorn Stream.

Jim was making them for a few years after after Howard closed up then John Spaeth ended up taking over and is still in business. Well, I think he is anyways. I know he started doing a lot of restorations in the past few years but not sure if he is still building new boats.

Spaeth is still around as far as I know. Doing mostly restorations. His stream builds are built-to-order, and apparently few and far between the past couple years.
