Older boats like mine, <1976 typically had stringer on bottom and core between as opposed to stringer on core. Yet another question I forgot to ask Howard about.....Kepp pluggin' away...the first ride is worth it!!!

I believe factory is stringers under core. That's what I did. You can read thru my Viper rebuild here: http://hydrostream.org/ArticleArchives/AlaskaViperResto.htm
Mine was about as bad off as you could get. I spent a lot of time writing the article for Mark Casper with lots of pictures and explanations for the procedure. I spoke at length with John Spaeth of Canada HydroStream on materials. Hope this helps some.....

It's been a while since last post. So, I thought I might update. Structure work is now complete, deck is back on, finished fairing pad and lifting strakes last night. Some minor work to deck and new transom left. Found local shop to spray and finish entire hull in original red gel coat. Interior goes in for recover next week. As soon as hull leaves the work on the xr-2 starts. I will post some pics of completed project, hopefully late spring.
Thanks,

Wow,
After 22 months getting a new gel coat, I am now reassembling hull. Motor is ready.
Need to figure how to submit pics. Hull is original red, lifting strakes sharpened and hook left intact.
Pics to follow.

So, after all this time I have decided to sell my Viper. Completely assembled with all new components. 2 lower units, Bobs hydraulic jack plate. Been in water 4 times, bought another boat. Long list of items. Photos on Seattle Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.
